Penarth is preparing for its annual Remembrance Day Parade.
The parade, organised by a group of veterans in collaboration with the town's Royal British Legion branch and a committee from Penarth Ex Services Club, is scheduled for Sunday, November 10.
The organisers, a mix of serving and former military personnel from the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force, have been working since 2014 to maintain the significance of the Remembrance Day celebration.
They have been collaborating with the town's Royal British Legion and members of the Penarth Ex-Services Club.
The volunteers on the committee are dedicated to keeping the Remembrance Sunday tradition alive and ensuring it remains a community event.
A spokesperson for the veterans said: "The veterans team is a group of serving and veteran military personnel from all arms of His Majesty's Armed Forces.
"The committee is formed solely from volunteers who are devoted to ensuring the Remembrance Sunday tradition is not only celebrated appropriately but is preserved for the future.
"The other main aim of the committee is to ensure that the Penarth Remembrance Day Parade remains a community event; a festival of Remembrance that the town is both a part of and takes pride in."
Penarth, with its rich military history, including at least two Victoria Cross recipients, takes great pride in these celebrations.
The continuing involvement of Penarth’s schools is also appreciated by the committee.
The Remembrance Day events will begin at Rectory Road, where attendees are expected to gather by 9.45am.
The Garden of Remembrance will host the start of the proceedings at 10.10am, with wreath-laying ceremonies.
The parade will then proceed through the town to All Saints Church for the Act of Remembrance, where people are expected to be by 10.45am.
Following the church service, the parade will march to the Penarth Ex-Servicemen’s Club, where participants will gather more informally to honour absent friends.
The spokesperson added: "It is our sincere hope that the community of Penarth and the wider Vale community come together on Sunday, November 10 and join us along the route or at any of the locations above, and after the parade at the Ex-Servicemen's club."
