I TRIED one of Griff’s Deli lunchtime ciabatta sandwiches and while it might not be in my everyday budget it was impressive.
The inside of the Deli is warm and welcoming and as you enter you can see an array of options on display.
I picked one of their freshly prepared sandwiches of the day on ciabatta – salted beef which usually costs £6.50.
The bread had a good crunch which went well with the salted beef, mustard, pickles, and fresh salad.
I have a health condition called PoTs dysautonomia and salt really improves my symptoms.
The deli has lots of different options, but if you like salt this sandwich is the perfect option for you.
It was a slightly cold day outside, so I decided to get a matcha with vanilla to keep me warm on my way home.
I originally planned to get a plain matcha, but the staff at the deli recommended adding vanilla which I’d definitely order again.
The coffee cup and paper packaging for my sandwich, which I took to go, was made of recyclable materials.
To my suprise, although I hadn’t informed them I was a journalist, the coffee was deducted from my bill.
I checked in case they had forgotten to add it to my bill, but they said it was part of a kindness act by those who run Rest Space.
The coffee cup had a sticker on it, which read ‘kindness is doing what you can, where you are, with what you have, from Rest Space’.
The family run deli in the heart of Penarth
In 2022, a new family deli opened on Cornerswell Road and proved popular within weeks.
It describes itself as a casual neighbourhood eatery serving food and drinks morning, afternoon and evening.
It is well known for its specially curated deli boards, hand-crafted sandwiches, wines, and hampers.
The family who dreamed of owning a deli for years have gone on to even run a stall at Cardiff Market.
It also provides catering for events in Penarth, Cardiff, and the wider Vale of Glamorgan area.
