The UK's only distillery within a castle has launched its first vodka line.

Hensol Castle Distillery, based in the Vale of Glamorgan, is expanding its range beyond gin and rum with the introduction of Hensol Castle Vodka.

The vodka is distilled in the cellars of the 400-year-old castle and will be available for purchase on the Hensol Castle Distillery website.

The launch of the vodka range follows the distillery's collaboration with Tiny Rebel to create its first whisky range.

The distillery has used the whisky wash, a byproduct of the whisky-making process, to create a new single malt whisky, set to be released in 2026.

A small amount of this whisky, which hasn't been fully matured, has been used to create the new vodka.

Hensol Castle Vodka is made using a base of five-times distilled potato spirit, blended with Welsh water from the Brecon Beacons.

A hint of the upcoming 'new make' whisky spirit is added to give the vodka a unique twist.

Chris Leeke, managing director of Hensol Castle Distillery, said: "We’ve worked incredibly hard over the last few years to create a truly outstanding gin brand that has gone on to win many accolades, and we’re confident that our Hensol Castle vodka range is going to be just as popular.

"Vodka is one of the most versatile spirits on the market and will forever be a favourite tipple for many."

The vodka, priced at £30 per 70cl bottle, will be sold alongside the distillery's award-winning gins and rums.
