Two Penarth students have performed DJ sets at a charity gala in London.
Harry, 15, and Makenzie, 14, from Headlands School, played their sets at Action for Children’s annual Starry Night Gala on Thursday, November 14.
The event took place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Piccadilly, and raised funds for vulnerable children and young people.
They joined Magic FM’s Kat Shoob and Tom Price on stage to entertain an audience that included famous faces such as Angela Rippon CBE, Vanessa Feltz, Kai Fagan, Sanam Harrinanan, Kelsey Parker, Georgia Jones, Laura Hamilton, Jimmy Akingbola, Sola Akingbola, Ronnie Archer-Morgan, Fats Timbo, Debbie Bright, Olivia Cox, Janey Smith and Roger Hawes, Jay Howard, Pandora Christie and Sophie Tea.
The students had the opportunity to partake in a presenting and DJ masterclass at Magic FM the previous day, which equipped them with the skills to perform at the gala hosted by Louise Boyce aka Mamma’s Still Got It.
Makenzie said: "It was brilliant to meet Kat and Tom.
"They were very friendly and we had a lot of fun with them.
"I already DJ at school but meeting Magic FM DJs has made me want to be one even more.
"I loved performing in front of a large crowd and am really grateful to Action for Children and Magic FM for the opportunity."
Harry said: "I’ve had the time of my life and loved every minute of it.
"Kat and Tom were great to us and we’ve learned so much about presenting and performing from them.
"They were really interested in us and them taking time out of their busy day was fantastic.
"The gala evening was very entertaining and to perform in front of that crowd with all those celebrities there is something I’ll never forget."
Headlands teacher, Robin Hackett, accompanied the boys on their trip to London with colleague, Joe Osbaldeston.
Mr Hackett said: "It was a privilege to take Harry and Makenzie on this special trip.
"They really made the most of it and lapped it up when meeting Kat and Tom.
"We are exceptionally proud of them both."
