A planning application has been submitted for an alternative fire escape and raised platform for a Penarth building.
The platform is planned to be constructed outside Hickman's ground floor restaurant on Windsor Road.
The 12-square-metre area, currently vacant, is situated between the public highway and the front of the property.
The platform is proposed to be 600mm above pavement level, with steps leading down to the pavement.
The application states that potted plants will be placed on the platform, including shrubs such as Dicksonia antarctica, Trachycarpus fortunei, and Photinia 'Pink Marble'.
The restaurant's management strategy will cover the maintenance of these plants.
The application was required by Building Control and the Fire Service, as mentioned in the Fire Risk Assessment for the development.
Work on the project began on September 9, 2024.
