THE latest restaurant to come to Penarth could have opened at just the right time – Christmas – offering what could be one of the best Christmas dinners in town.
In what was Amici’s Italian restaurant is now Severn View ‘restaurant, bar and live entertainment’.
Entertainment? Along with the excellent Christmas dinner, Severn View is offering something different to help hold down a place at what has to be one of the most iconic venues in South Wales – Penarth Esplanade.
Among the timeless sounds of the lapping waves there could now be live singers, dance nights, competitions and more.
Severn View opened on Friday November 29 – Amici's having handed the keys back and returned to their flagship restaurant in Pontypool on Saturday November 23 - high streets change quickly and no sector moves faster than the hospitality...
So, now Severn View is in what are they about and what can we expect?
Owner and manager Sid Ali Rachdi and Natalie Cable run a successful fish and chip shop on the famous ‘Chippy Lane’ in Cardiff, with Severn View being head chef Sid’s first chance to really showcase his skills (his claim to fame is he can cook 12 cuisines!)
The cuisines we tried on opening night was the Christmas dinner and it was exceptional – offering beef, turkey or Welsh Lamb with all the trimmings.
There were also pizzas on offer.
Severn View will also offer, along with ‘entertainment nights’, breakfast from 7am – perfect for the early morning sea swimmers?
What we want to know more about though is this concept of ‘entertainment’.
“We’ll do live singers, magicians and even Cabaret Acts,” Ms Cable explained.
There was already entertainment when we walked through the door on Friday night, with singer Christie B performing.
But, at the end of the day it all comes down to the food.
What will Severn View serve when they settle in and expand their menu?
Well, they’ll be burgers, steaks, salads, pizza, lasagne, lobster and more!
Along with a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc, the views of Penarth Pier and a singer serenading in the background – it could all make for an interesting experience.
Try out Severn View Restaurant at Penarth Esplanade now. They’re open for breakfast from 7am right through to lunch and dinner.
