Penarth's Belle Vue Bowling Club had a disappointing week with their results.

On Wednesday, June 12, the club suffered a significant away defeat against Dinas Powys with a disheartening score of 147-27.

Players from the hosting team were praised for their sportsmanship, offering supportive advice to Belle Vue's novice players during the game.

Despite the result, Dinas Powys extended a friendly invitation to the Belle Vue ladies for a match.

Further demonstrating their hospitability, Dinas Powys served food and drink post-match.

A sunny day overall, the temperature grew colder into the evening as the well-kept green progressively succumbed to shade. The team had to compete with a fast green and this took some time to get to grips with.

Saturday, June 15, saw another defeat for the club, this time at home against Caerphilly Social.

This match, however, was closer, finishing at 55-83.

As with the previous encounter, great camaraderie resonated throughout the rinks. All four Belle Vue rinks lost, however, one rink was a lot closer, spending the majority of the match exchanging the lead with the opponents.

The visiting team commented favourably regarding the improvement to Belle Vue's green over the past year.

Before their departure, the Caerphilly team expressed their excitement for the upcoming match on their ground.

Heavy rain impeded play for nearly ten minutes during the match, leaving players in the cold.

Nonetheless, the Belle Vue members remained undeterred, continuing with their spirited effort to strive for a second win of the season.

The strength of the visiting team's experience became obvious once they adjusted to the playing conditions.

Despite two consecutive losses, Belle Vue continues to strive for victory.

The novices, having absorbed invaluable lessons from these encounters, are now performing better in subsequent games.

The club remains hopeful for future matches.
