Penarth's Belle Vue Bowls Club had their closest results of the season so far.
Despite losses against Barry Athletic and Cyfartha Castle this past week, Belle Vue's bowlers showcased remarkable improvement in both matches, shown by their tightly fought contests.
The team's match against Barry Athletic on June 26 saw them reduce a previous deficit of 123 points on May 8 to just 31.
The final score read 62-93 in favour of Barry Athletic.
The newer members of the team welcomed the advice imparted by their opponents, further nurturing their skills and fostering spirit.
June 29 saw Belle Vue involved in a hard-fought battle at Cyfartha Castle, with the margin of loss squeezed down to 14 points, the final score being 78-92 in favour of Cyfartha Castle.
The competition, which unfolded over 21 ends, saw Belle Vue securing two rinks.
The first of these, winning 27-17, was played by Barry Bagwell, Maurice Cox, Jacqui Kempa and Peter Esseen.
They successfully halted the undefeated run of their counterparts who commended Belle Vue for their fine play.
The second rink was commandeered by Trevor Ford, Tom Kaged, Richard Brant and David Bradley, who took the game to a nail-biting finish, ultimately triumphing by one point 19-18.
These tight encounters were imbued with distinct positivity, bolstering the team's confidence and eagerness for the victories they seek in their upcoming matches.
