Penarth Belle Vue Bowls Club had a mixed week - with a midweek win and a weekend loss.
The week began on a high note with an away win against Cadoxton on Wednesday, August 3.
The match, also the last in the Munro cup, saw a close win of 50-46.
The team won two rinks, one led by Andy Davies, who was joined by Maurice Cox, Justine Dyer and Bruce Ford who had a 10-9 victory.
The other winning rink, under Jeff Wenger along with Peter Bagwell, Nicola Holder and Peter Esseen, grabbed a win of 18-10.
Players appreciated the dry weather after a rainy day, contributing to their delightful win.
However, fortune didn't favour the club on the weekend when they faced Rhoose on Saturday, August 10 at home, losing 66-74.
Despite one rink winning 27-13 led by Andy Davies and including Roy Golding, Stephanie Lowder and Peter Esseen, the club couldn't clinch the overall victory.
Yet, the sunny weather and the narrowing margin of loss compared to earlier matches signalled improvement for the team.
The customary post-match camaraderie continued with food and drink.
