Cardiff has been named one of the worst cities in the UK for winter sports.
A study by sports travel insurers SportsCover Direct found that Cardiff is the second-worst city in the UK for accessibility to winter sports facilities.
The study looked at the distance from the centre of the UK's 25 most populous cities to their nearest ice rink and ski slope to determine the best city amenities for winter sports fans.
Cardiff's only ice rink is 3.2 miles from the centre.
However, the nearest ski slope is 109 miles away, giving an average distance of 56.1 miles to winter sports facilities.
With an average Google review rating of 4.55 out of 5, the city does offer quality facilities, but the long distances may deter enthusiasts.
Plymouth was named the worst city for winter sports, with an average distance of 65 miles to the nearest ski slope or ice rink.
This means Cardiff is the worst city in Wales for accessibility to winter sports facilities.
Sean Walsh, head of marketing at SportsCover Direct, said: "What you wear is one of the most important aspects of keeping yourself safe on ice rinks and dry ski slopes.
"While you have the option of wearing proper padded clothing to these places, similar to what you would wear if you were on real ski slopes, chances are it’s going to be a lot warmer wherever you end up compared to the Alps.
"Heavy jeans with a thermal layer underneath are highly recommended, as they are flexible, warm and, most importantly, help to prevent scrapes if you fall on the slopes.
"Along with the usual items, you should consider wearing thick, padded gloves.
"Not only will these gloves make it easier to hold onto your poles, but they will also offer protection from injury should you fall on the ice."
